Douglas Golf Club is situated on a hilltop on the outskirts of Cork City. The course is surrounded by mature parklands and has a number of drives over crests. Fairways are lined with bushes and a number of tress come into play in different locations so you will need to get around these if you find yourself caught. The back nine flow back down the hill towards the clubhouse and there are some beautifully shaped holes to see here.
Big hitters will need to ease off on a number of holes here as bunkers are positioned to trap the unexpected. Keep an eye on the 150m posts or choose a lower club than a driver to be able to compete along with the shorter hitters who will avoid the danger.
There are some really good holes at this course. The 13th to 17th are fantastic but challenging. Be aware of run offs at some holes which might catch you out. There are also some great views as you are on the way back to the clubhouse as well.
